I’m Erik, husband to my wife Samantha and dad to two tiny humans, Silas (3) and Fiona (9 months). I’m also a stay-at-home dad who runs a photography business somewhere between snack breaks, nap schedules, and reading the same book twelve times in a row. Becoming a parent rewired my brain in the best way. Suddenly, everything felt fleeting. The way your child reaches for you without thinking, how to look at you, how they talk to you... That’s why this work matters so deeply to me.
I understand how fast these seasons move and how badly you want to hold onto them. I see moms differently now. The quiet strength, the chaos, the love poured out in a thousand invisible ways. These sessions exist because I get it. My goal isn’t perfection. It’s presence. To make you feel comfortable, seen, and totally yourself while we capture something honest. Because these days don’t last long, and they deserve to be remembered as they really felt.

When you step into a session with me, expect things to feel easy. I’m here for movement, laughter, and the moments that happen naturally between you and the people you love. Kids can wiggle. Parents can breathe. You can talk, play, and simply exist as you are. I’ll guide you when needed, but the real magic lives in the in-between, the glances, the giggles, the quiet reaches. For maternity sessions, I'll make sure to guide each lady to make sure we can highlight her pregnancy in the most beautiful way possible while feeling confident.

Once your date is reserved, we'll connect to start chatting about possible locations for your session. I generally recommend choosing one area, preferably your home or a natural setting. I am more than happy to send you a list of locations to pique your interest!
Things to consider include the time of year, the sun's timing and location, start and end times of the session, and driving distances. If you have a "feel" for what you're looking for, I will give you the best advice to make that vision come true.

An often-overanalyzed part of sessions is the thought process: "What do I wear?!" Well, I can help.
Wear something that brings "you" joy, and especially something that gives you confidence. If your session is at home and your house is neutral, you can wear neutral or bold colors for contrast. If we are in nature, neutral colors work best. If you want extra "spice," I am open to talking color choices and even dress type. For the men, neutrals and blue are always your safest bet.

The day before and/or on the day of your session, I'll check in to make sure the weather is cooperating and that everything is still a "go" on both ends. We will exchange numbers, and I'll update you on my arrival time.
Before the session, you might be nervous, and that's okay! I am ALWAYS nervous before a session! Some of you may never have had professional photos taken, and that is okay. I will guide you throughout our session and ensure you feel at ease.

The images from our sessions are typically delivered within about a three-week window of the shoot date via an online gallery. This gallery lets you share your favorites with family, order prints, and even download images to share on social media.
Your gallery will remain active for six months.

Located in the heart of downtown Rockton, IL, is a hidden, yet stunning studio space named The Loft 815. With over 1,000 sq ft of space, a multitude of decor options, a bed, chairs, and neutral walls, you can customize this space any way you like. An additional $70 fee is required to secure this beautiful space.

Cantigny is a 500-acre park in Wheaton, Illinois. It boasts a color palette you can only dream of and has some of the most beautiful locations, making the grounds absurdly unique. Every season is perfect for any type of session at Cantigny, especially fall. Don't look any further if color and greenery are what you are envisioning.

FIND INSPIRATION
With the growth of online shops, shopping for your littles is more fun than ever! We recommend choosing color families (neutrals, blues, etc) over perfectly matching outfits. If you're looking for some inspiration or some of our favorite shops for kids, feel free to reach out!
For the Littles
When picking outfits we recommend keeping in mind the word “complement” rather than “match.” For example, if Dad is wearing a blue and pink pastel plaid shirt, Mom may want to choose a long, soft blue dress. It can also be a great idea to choose “color-families,” such as pastels or jewel tones.

WARDROBE STYLING
The sooner the better! My weekends tend to fill up pretty quickly - especially during the spring and fall, also due to all the weddings I photograph. So the sooner you reach out to me, the more likely you are to get your desired date!
To reserve your date, I will need a deposit in advance. And if something comes up and you need to change your date, just let me know!
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK?
Unless you've modeled professionally, you're probably going to feel awkward in front of the camera. Heck, I take photos for a living and we even feel like a deer in the headlights when we're in front of the camera!! It's true!
You're going to feel awkward at first, but as the session goes on and I coach you through the poses, I know you'll find that being photographed can actually be fun! And don't worry about your kids. After dealing with my 3 year old and 9 month old, I know how to document them perfectly, as well as have patience.
We're Awkward and my kids don't sit still.
No one wants to look like a wet dog in their photos so if it looks like it's going to rain, snow, hail or some other weather catastrophe, we'll be in touch via email or phone to reschedule.
Often, when I'm scheduling our initial portrait session date, if it works for our calendars, I'll actually set up both a main date and a rain date just to make sure we don't have to postpone your session for very long if the weather is bad on the original date. We'll make it work, promise!
WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Within a few weeks of your session, you'll receive a link to a digital gallery that will allow you to download high and low resolution images.
The gallery is also set up to make ordering prints, canvases and other keepsakes as easy as turning on a Roomba to clean your floors. No worrying about tricky things like color correction, DPI and image format. Nice and easy!
